Pete started his career in the lumber and building supply business early on in his life. He grew up in Spring Hill, KS, working alongside his dad, Jerry Peterson, at C.M.I., a local construction materials company, and went on to co-found Miami Lumber with his parents in 1983. Pete has built a reputation for being hands-on, dependable, and deeply committed to helping both homeowners and contractors bring their building plans to life. Kenna joined Miami Lumber in 1992 and has helped shape the family business while keeping flexibility for family life at the forefront. She specializes in business management and accounting, and for many years also oversaw the store’s decorating department, helping customers bring their visions to life with wallpaper, faux paint, custom blinds, and window treatments. As the owner of Miami Lumber, Pete brings decades of experience and a genuine care for the people he serves.Kenna takes pride in the expertise and personal service Miami Lumber offers, a standard she believes sets the store apart from larger competitors.

What began as a part-time weekend job over a decade ago has grown into a full-time career for Grady, now a cornerstone of Miami Lumber’s contractor sales team. Recognized in 2024 as part of LBM’s “40 Under 40” class of young industry leaders, Grady is known for his problem-solving skills, easygoing nature, and love of getting out into the field to connect with homeowners and contractors. A Tucson, AZ native raised in Pleasant Hill, MO, he now lives in Miami County, KS, where he enjoys golfing and raising his three daughters.

The son of a construction professional, Gabe grew up around the building industry and now brings nearly a decade of lumber experience to Miami Lumber. He’s known for his hands-on approach: available for last-minute orders or lending a hand on-site, and takes pride in the company’s people-first service. His favorite product is Fiberon composite decking for its quality, value, and ability to transform outdoor spaces. Outside of work, Gabe is active in Scouting America, leading youth programs and working at a scout camp in Saint Joseph, MO.
